Bunco is a fast-paced, high energy game. Probably the biggest obstacle to getting players to come is apprehension that they don’t know how to play. Well, if you can roll dice and count to 21, you can play! There is no strategy, and only fun. Besides, everyone who plays was at one point a new person.
The best way to learn Bunco is by playing it! If you’re new to Bunco, we’ll take a minute to show a sample table, how each person rolls and adds and scores, and then you’ll be good to go!
How To Play:
Twelve participants will be randomly selected to sit with a partner at 3 tables seating 4. Partners in the game rotate the entire time, so there is an opportunity for each person to spend time with everyone chatting, laughing and just playing the game. Each group of 12 is its own pod; with as many pods as we have participants! One table per pod will be Head Table; starting and stopping each round. Each pod will play 2 six-round sets with a break between sets for drinks & snacks. Each pod plays its own game, but at the end of the evening everyone is eligible to win cash prizes.
Bunco Basics:
This Social game of Bunco is played in two sets, with six rounds in each set.
A player at the head table rings a bell to signal the beginning and end of each round.
During the game, the person at every table who keeps score starts by rolling the dice. Players take turns rolling three dice to try and earn points. All tables play simultaneously.
During each round, players attempt to roll the same number as the number of the round (for example, rolling three 3’s in Round 3 would earn the player points).
A player keeps rolling until they score no points. The scorekeeper then records the score that player earned onto the table tally as the team score. The dice are passed to the player on the left.
BUNCO (21 points)
3 of the same number rolled matches round number
example: three 2’s during 2nd round = BUNCO!
Baby Bunco (5 points)
3 of same number rolled does not match round number
example: three 2’s during the 4th round = Baby Bunco!
Rolling that round’s number (1 point)
example: two 1’s during round 1 = 2 points
When the head table has earned 21 points, the round is over. The head table rings a bell to signal that the round has ended. At the end of every round, players change partners and/or tables. At the end of the evening, there will be multiple winners [cash prizes awarded from registration funds]
Cash Prizes Awarded [Tied categories will be divided equally]
